    Wireless Upgrades and How It Affects Your Laptop

    During the summer of 2021. the Technology team upgraded the district’s wireless infrastructure. The new wireless network boasts many improvements, is robust, and top of the line. We anticipate our completed project to have a positive impact across our district, specifically in the areas of connectivity and classroom instruction. As a result of this project, more than 350 wireless access points have or will be replaced throughout the district by the first day of classes.  

    What do I need to do?

    Any staff that did not return their district-issued laptop during our scheduled end of the school year collection should bring in that laptop, power it on, and attempt to login with their credentials to verify wireless connectivity. We suggest that a great time to do this is on September 1st, immediately following our “Opening Day Welcome Back” at the High School. It’s important to spread out while signing on, staff members are asked to not try to all login from the same room\area.  Any staff member who fails to do this will potentially experience wireless connectivity issues and require a technician visit in order to get on to our network wirelessly. 

    Our annual collection is part of an important process that allows us to update your district issued laptops. Windows updates, along with updates for all district programs and any necessary network changes are performed during this time. Additionally, reimaging the laptops keeps them secure and functioning optimally for the upcoming school year. If you have not returned your laptop, we ask that you place a helpdesk request after September 20th and a district technician will coordinate and schedule a time to update your device.
