Ms. Jane Oatts

I am delighted to teach ELL in both the middle school and high school for the school year of 2018-2019. I have taught all ages in New York, Colorado, and am looking forward to a second year teaching in Bergen County, New Jersey. I studied at Tulane University in New Orleans for my Bachelor of Arts and received a Masters in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages from Hunter College in New York City. I was inspired to enter the world of language development after living abroad as a first and second year student in high school in Montevideo, Uruguay and in college in Madrid, Spain. Learning multiple languages is now proven to develop many parts of executive function and empathy in the brain, as well as open doors professionally. I, personally, also believe it brings the global world closer together and breaks down walls of cultural miscommunication and bias. Language is love and power; I expect all students learn to use it to communicate with others more efficiently in all modalities: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Open communication is pivotal among all share holders in the students' academic and social growth at school. Please reach out to me with any concern and I will reply to your message within a 24 hours window:

I teach in the high school in the morning: Language Arts 2 & 3.
I teach in the middle school in the afternoon: Math 6 (Mrs. Cariddi), Skill Building 8 and ELL 8
At this time, I am exclusiving using Google Classroom to communicate assignnments, expectations, and resources to my classes.

I look forward to a rewarding year of learning!
