• Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!

Please complete the Qualtrics Symptoms Tracker each morning. QR codes are posted at the building entrances if you forget to complete it at home.

Please do not send a sick child to school. In order to prevent the spread of illness, parents/guardians should keep a child home when he/she shows any signs of the following: FEVER, COUGHING, RUNNY EYES, HEADACHE, VOMITING, SORE THROAT, CHILLS, PAIN, DIARRHEA, EAR ACHE, RASHE

    • If your child has fever, he/she must be kept home for 24-hours after temperature has returned to normal, as fevers typically rise in the afternoon.

If your child will be absent from school for any reason, you must email (vpagano@tenafly.k12.nj.us), call (201-816-7703), or text (201-563-9600) the nurse EVERY DAY that your child is absent from school. Include the child’s name, class, date, and the reason for the absence.

    • When reporting your child’s absence, please provide a specific reason for your child’s absence. For example, “sore throat” instead of “not feeling well”.

Medication can only be given by the School Nurse or parent/guardian, under certain circumstances, and only with written permission from a physician. This includes prescription and non-prescription medication.  If your child will need to take medication, please contact the nurse’s office for the proper forms and procedures.  MEDICATION WILL NOT BE GIVEN WITHOUT A PHYSICIAN’S NOTE AND WRITTEN PARENTAL PERMISSION.  Medication should NOT be sent into school with your child to administer.

Please notify the Health Office if your child has a food or bee sting allergy that requires an Epi-pen or other medication.

Please remember to dress your child appropriately for daily weather conditions. At Mackay, every attempt is made for students to go outside for recess.

The nurse is available for conferences with parents/guardians to discuss any health issues or concerns regarding their child. Parents/guardians of children with chronic illnesses are encouraged to contact the Health Office to discuss the specific health plan required.  Hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 3:10 pm.

    Thank you for your cooperation!

Together, we can make a healthier environment for our children.
