ABOUT THE TEACHER 
My name is Dana Mizimakoski and I have been teaching at Maugham School since 2010. First grade is an amazing year filled with growth and adventure. I am excited about working together and having a wonderful year. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I love spending time by the pool or at the beach.  In my free time, I love to be outdoors, get organized, and work on home projects.

DEGREES AND CERTIFICATIONS 
I graduated from The College of New Jersey with a double major in Education and Psychology. I currently have a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Psychology, also MAT in Special Education and Literacy. My New Jersey certifications include: K-5 General Education Teacher and K-12 Special Education Teacher. I also proudly hold the following certificates: Orton-Gillingham Teacher (IMSLEC accredited), Dyslexia Therapist (IDA accredited), and New Jersey Reading Specialist. 

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING 
My philosophy for learning is that no two students are the same and thus each student has individual ability and achievement levels as well as individual strengths and needs. It is important to provide students with opportunities and experiences where each student may demonstrate success, reach their fullest academic potential, and be enthusiastic about learning. I believe strongly in parent involvement and teachers working together to ensure student success. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively, and making learning fun. Above all, is to teach the whole child and build independence.
