Mr. Matthew Mirabito
My name is Matt Mirabito and I am honored to have the opportunity to work as a 10-12th grade Social Studies teacher here in Tenafly. I have an extensive background in History, Political Science, Western Civilization, Law, and Technology which I look forward to integrating into the classroom.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Providence College in Rhode Island. While there, I double minored in History and the Development of Western Civilization, a course of study that met each day for 2 years rotating between the subjects of English, History, Theology, Philosophy, and Art. Currently, Providence College is the only school in the nation with this program.
After my undergraduate studies, I received my Paralegal Studies degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. Additionally, I enrolled in their Masters of Teaching program to obtain my teaching certification and future masters degree in teaching.
In 2010, I completed my student teaching requirement under the mentorship of 2008 NJEA Teacher of the Year Mr. John Kline in 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies at Norwood Public School in Norwood, NJ. Upon obtaining my Elementary and Social Studies certifications, I taught 7th Grade Social Studies at Saddle Brook Middle School in Saddle Brook, NJ, 7th and 8th Grade Resource at Norwood Public School, and served as a 4th Grade Teaching Assistant at Hawes Elementary School in Ridgewood, NJ.
Directly prior to coming to Tenafly, I served as the Media Specialist at Woodside Elementary School in River Vale, NJ. I taught library and technology classes, provided in-house technical support, and maintained and catalogued their school library.
Currently, I participate in the Tenafly school community beyond the classroom as well. I am the Sophomore Class Advisor for the Class of 2024, play by play announcer for the Tenafly Football games, and am Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Boys Soccer and Freshman Girls Basketball Teams.
In 2017, I received the honor of being named the H.S.A Teacher of the Year for Tenafly High School.
I look forward to using my diverse educational experiences and skills to prepare the students of Tenafly for the rigorous demands of college, their future employment, and to make lasting positive contributions to the society in which they live.
Best regards,
Matt Mirabito
