Mrs. Tara Haggerty

I have been an Academic Support teacher at Tenafly High School since 1995 and am currently on the 12th grade and transition teams. Before coming to Tenafly, I taught at a private school for students with behavioral and emotional difficulties. I received my BS in Special Education and my MS in Learning Disabilities, both from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (Go Huskies!!!). My goal is to help all students learn to the best of their ability while promoting independence and advocacy skills.

Students: check our Google Classroom every day your Academic Support class meets to fill out the Attendance form between 8:30-9:25am. I will be waiting for you on our Google Chat should you have questions, concerns, need help, etc. If you need more support, please email me so we can schedule a virtual session.

Parents: If you see your child needs specific help, please email me as soon as possible so I can schedule a one-on-one session with him/her. If your child is sick, please call the attendance office as you would for normal school days.

  • CONTACTING THE TEACHER (for parents of seniors):
Please understand that because your child is a HS senior, as part of the transition process I will be communicating a great deal directly with your child. Once your child graduates, their college/employer/etc. will go directly to them to handle any situation (positive or negative) that arises. One of our goals this year is to help your child learn how to deal with these situations. BUT, don’t worry! I will still be communicating with you, just “behind the scenes.” As always, please don't hesitate to contact me should you have a question or concern to discuss.
