WELCOME AND SUPPLY INFORMATION
Dear New 5N Fifth Grader,
I hope you are enjoying your summer so far and are relaxed, refreshed and ready for fifth grade. My summer has been restful. I spent time with my family, went to the beach and did some traveling. I participated in some of my favorite summer activities including fishing, biking, traveling and photography.
The learning experience in 5N is one of discussion, collaboration, independent study, growth and responsibility. It is my goal to provide to my students challenging and thoughtful assignments that can be fun, interesting and sometimes eye-opening experiences. There is also a major focus on literacy skills equally within reading and writing. Fifth grade is an incredibly important year as we develop our leadership skills and prepare for our futures in the middle school. Hard work, compassion, creativity and a sense of humor will take you a long way in my classroom and will certainly prepare you for what's to come.
I am going to do my very best this year to keep my class working collaboratively. The Covid-19 pandemic has created a situation that is limiting. However, we will be using technology more than ever to communicate, work and learn.
Even though we are in a unique situation, I am listing the recommended supplies for the year. We may or may not use all of it however so many of you have already ordered the HSA supply box. We'll do our best and at the very least we will be prepared.
Now you’ll be the “seniors” of Stillman School! I look forward to an exciting, learning-filled, fun year. I trust that you are looking forward to this, too.

If you have any questions before the first day of school, you can send me an e-mail the week before school begins: enissenbaum@tenafly.k12.nj.us . I look forward to seeing you on on the first day of school upstairs in room 201!

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
Welcome to fifth grade! I am looking forward to meeting your child this year. ALthough this is a very different set of circumstances, I will do my very best to communicate with you. I urge you to read all of the emails and communication that the school district sends out about school and classroom protocol. Please discuss everything with your child to keep them well informed. Things change frequently.
Please introduce me to your child and send me an email contact address for you. My email address at school is enissenbaum@tenafly.k12.nj.us. In your email, please describe your impressions of your child’s attitude about school, about homework, about reading, math and anything else you think might be important for me to know. During the year, you’ll find that I am best reachable via email and will respond to you as soon as possible. If you decide not to write about your child, please send me an email anyway so I have your address on file for the year.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and I truly look forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Eric Nissenbaum
