    Welcome to Freshman English !
In accordance with the Tenafly High School English department:

Freshman English provides instruction and experiences in each of the following language-based activities: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking! Instruction in language arts also includes viewing, understanding, and using non-textual visual information such as art or film. Both group and independent work will offer students the opportunity to draw inferences, develop vocabulary, and form reasoned opinions.

Course readings introduce students to adult literature and are drawn from world mythology, English literature, and literature from or about Asia and Africa. The idea of the freshman English curriculum involves the sharing of the geographical interest (Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia) of the freshman social studies curriculum. All genres—poetry, drama, fiction and non-fiction are included.
