• CURRICULUM: 

    Unit 1 builds on the students’ understanding of rational numbers concepts presented in grade 6 to develop fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of rational numbers and to use these skills in a problem-solving context.  

    Unit 2 will focus on problem solving, developing fluency with rewriting linear expressions, and solving linear equations. Students will use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.    

    Unit 3 combines rational number arithmetic and linear expressions and equations concepts. Students will analyze proportional relationships and use them in problem solving. The geometry standards will provide opportunities for the students to use proportional reasoning in context.

    In Unit 4, the students will continue to use ratios and proportional reasoning in multi‐step ratio and percent problems. The standards from the Statistics and Probability domain will support the use of proportional reasoning in context. 

    Unit 5 will consist of drawing, constructing, and describing geometrical figures and analyzing the relationships between them. Students will also solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume.
