Expectations and Grading
In music class, we follow 5 simple rules:
M ake Good Choices
U se Kind Words
S how Respect
I nvolve Yourself
C are for our room and instruments
The biggest reason these rules are in place is so that students can be as successful as they can possibly be and reach their greatest potential. I have high, but realistic, expectations for my students and I will do my best to help them grow as young musicians and reach their goals.
These rules are reviewed and modeled at the beginning of the school year and are reinforced throughout.
Grades are primarily based on participation in activities, behavior, and comprehension of the concepts/skills. If assignments are given, students are responsible for completing the work on time. Certain assignments may use a scale of checks, simple rubrics, or completion credit.
